Carriage House
Carriage House
Originally built in 1911, this traditional carriage house presented a unique challenge: honor the home’s authentic architectural details, while creating a comfortable modern space for a client with contemporary flair. Additionally, the client needed to add an office and bathroom without increasing the existing building’s footprint.
These requirements fall perfectly under an important Wendi Jay Design team philosophy: “it’s not about the match; it’s the mix.” The home’s open back porch was enclosed with walls of glass to create a new office. The porch’s original stone columns were incorporated into the mix with custom curved glass to simultaneously protect and highlight the beautiful stone structures. Upstairs, a hallway closet was converted into the new bathroom, ensuring a corresponding bathroom for each of the 3 bedrooms.
To create a more contemporary feel vintage modern furnishings were used. Warm-toned accents complement neutral-colored walls and pieces.
